Uyo, 11 February 2018 - The Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Idom Emmanuel has pledged to continue placing health on the highest pedestal to alleviate the burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases in the state. 
In a meeting with Dr Wondimagegnehu Alemu, the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Representative (WR) to Nigeria, the Governor noted that WHO has expended substantial human and material  resources to “keep the citizenry healthy” across Nigeria.

The Governor, who made the statement when he received the WHO Country Representative at the Government House, said WHO’s timely provision of technical and logistic support to health programmes, assists in no small measure towards meeting government’s health agenda.

Maiduguri, 15 December 2017 - For the first time since insurgency stymied healthcare services in the North-east, the affected population now have access to mental health services at primary health care (PHC) facilities in Borno state. To date, more than 2000 clients have been referred to the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital in Maiduguri, the state capital for further care, while 19 were admitted for in-patient management.
