Update COVID-19 25 January 2021

25 January 2021 — Three hundred, and thirty-six (336) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 7867 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases thirteen thousand, three hundred, and eleven (13311). To date, eight thousand, six hundred, and eighty-one (8681) patients have recovered, including two hundred, and sixty-one (261) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is four thousand, four hundred, and fifty-three (4453) and one hundred, and seventy-seven (177) deaths. The 3 new deaths are all male of 95 years in Kigali, and 81 and 72 years old in Huye District.


The new cases are in Kigali (137), Gicumbi (64), Kirehe (21), Gatsibo (18), Rulindo (17), Gisagara (12), Nyanza (8), Kamonyi (8), Ngoma (37, Rwamagana (7), Nyagatare (7), Rubavu (7), Karongi (6), Huye (5), Gakenke (4), Nyamagabe (3), Musanze (3), Nyamasheke (1), and Rusizi (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere.

The COVID-19 prevention measures announced by the Government of Rwanda must continue to be rigorously observed, especially frequent hand-washing and physical distancing. In addition, face masks must be worn in public and multi-family compounds.
Withholding information related to contact tracing or COVID-19 symptoms, jeopardises public safety and will be punished in accordance with applicable laws.
