From 30 March to 3 April 2015, Rwanda organized its annual Integrated Mother and Child Health (MCH) Week. The MCH Week takes place twice a year and serves as an opportunity to catch up with health service provisions to particularly vulnerable, hard to reach communities and children that are eligible for vaccination but have not yet received it.

Cuban Ebola responders depart Sierra Leone

The last batch of Ebola responders from the Cuban Medical Brigade will depart Sierra Leone on 1 April 2015, following a farewell ceremony with local dignitaries on Monday, 30 March in Freetown. The first contingent of 98 Cuban health workers departed Sierra Leone on Sunday 22 March after nearly 6 months supporting the Ebola outbreak response in the country.

Health authorities initiate multisectoral anti-rabies campaign in Luanda

Viana (Luanda/Angola), 30 March 2015 - A vaccination campaign against rabies in animals was launched on 27 March by Angolan authorities in Viana. The campaign is aiming to immunize 235 638 dogs, cats and monkeys targeting to control the current outbreak of this deadly disease that is affecting the province of Luanda, the most populous city of Angola with about 6.7 million inhabitants.

Kampala, 27th March 2015:- Mulago National Referral Hospital received  Rotaviral testing equipment from the World Health Organization (WHO) to be used in the sentinel surveillance site to boost Rotavirus surveillance before introducing Rotavirus vaccine in 2016.
