10 September 2020 — Nineteen (19) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 2838 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, four hundred, and seventy-nine (4479). To date, two thousand, three hundred, and fifty-two (2352) patients have recovered and been discharged, including twenty-seven (27) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is two thousand, one hundred, and five (2105) and twenty-two (22) deaths.  The new death is a male Rwandan of 62 years old.

When much of the world was waking up to the enormous implications of a global pandemic, Uganda was already a step ahead thanks to Ebola. 

While COVID-19 has its unique challenges, such as quick spread, dealing with it requires the type of response Uganda has been practising over the years with the Ebola threat, 

08 September 2020 — Thirty (30) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 3253 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, four hundred, and thirty-nine (4439). To date, two thousand, three hundred, and seven (2307) patients have recovered and been discharged, including thirty-six (36) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is two thousand, one hundred, and twelve (2112) and twenty (20) deaths.  The new death is a female Rwandan of 70 years old.

07 September 2020 — Thirty-five (35) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4457 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, four hundred, and nine (4409). To date, two thousand, two hundred, and seventy-one (2271) patients have recovered and been discharged, including thirty-six (36) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is two thousand, one hundred, and nineteen (2119) and nineteen (19) deaths.  

Early in September, the Ministry of Health in Tanzania Mainland embarked on finalizing development of its National Multi-Sectoral Cholera Prevention and Control Plan (NMCPCP).  Adopting a multi-sectoral approach to fighting cholera, the plan identifies and strengthens the linkages among government departments, multi and bi lateral development partners, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), whose actions contribute to the reduction of risk of cholera and prevention at local and national levels. 

Kampala, 7 September 2020:- At Rwenshama point of entry on the shores of Lake Edward in Rukungiri district, western Uganda, it’s a warm windy day and the place is bustling with activity. At one end, many sailors in groups of over eight are standing by their boats and preparing their nets for the day’s catch. On the other side, others are preparing to set off into the lake while in a permanent shelter, another group has displayed their catch for the day for all to see and buy the fish of their choice.
