Update COVID-19 25 June 2020

25 June 2020 — Twenty (20) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4757 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to eight hundred and fifty (850). To date, three hundred and eighty-five (385) patients have recovered and been discharged, including nine (9) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is four hundred and sixty-three (463) and two (2) deaths.


The new cases are from Rusizi (14), Kigali (4), and Kirehe (3); heightened vigilance is required everywhere. 
 All active cases are in isolation in stable condition.

Building on Ebola response to tackle COVID-19 in DRC

The Ebola outbreak in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) was declared over today, almost two years since the first case was confirmed. The DRC Ministry of Health made the announcement after no new cases were reported 42 days since the last patient tested negative for the virus.

24 June 2020 — Thirty-two (32) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 3415 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to eight hundred and thirty (830). To date, three hundred and seventy-six (376) patients have recovered and been discharged, including five (5) in the past 24 hours. Zambia like many other countries has faced challenges of safely maintaining access to high-quality, essential health services due to pressure exerted on the health delivery system by the COVID-19 pandemic. 23 June 2020 — Eleven(11) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4568 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to seven hundred and ninety-eight (798). To date, three hundred and seventy-one (371) patients have recovered and been discharged, including one (1) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is four hundred and twenty-five (425) and two (2) deaths.


The new cases are from Rusizi (8), Kirehe (2) and Kigali (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere. 
 All active cases are in isolation in stable condition.

22 June 2020 — Fifty-nine (59) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 2287 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to seven hundred and eighty-seven (787). To date, three hundred and seventy (370) patients have recovered and been discharged, including eleven (11) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is four hundred and fifteen (415) and two (2) deaths.

21 June 2020 — Twenty-six (26) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 3252 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to seven hundred and twenty-eight (728). To date, three hundred and fifty-nine (359) patients have recovered and been discharged, including two (2) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is three hundred and sixty-seven (367) and two (2) deaths.
