Update COVID-19 27 September 2020

27 September 2020 — Nine (9) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 2207 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, eight hundred, and twenty (4820). To date, three thousand, and ninety-nine (3099) patients have recovered and been discharged, including eight (8) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, six hundred, and ninety-two (1692) and twenty-nine (29) deaths. 


The new cases are in Kigali (6), Nyamagabe (2), and Rubavu (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere. 

Update COVID-19 26 September 2020

26 September 2020 — Thirteen (13) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 1894 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, eight hundred, and eleven (4811). To date, three thousand, and ninety-one (3091) patients have recovered and been discharged, including eleven (11) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, six hundred, and ninety-one (1691) and twenty-nine (29) deaths. 


The new cases are in Kigali (13) testing in high risk groups; heightened vigilance is required everywhere. 

Update COVID-19 25 September 2020

25 September 2020 — Nine (9) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 1400 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, seven hundred, and ninety-eight (4798). To date, three thousand, and eighty (3080) patients have recovered and been discharged, including thirty (30) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, six hundred, and eighty-nine (1689) and twenty-nine (29) deaths. The two new deaths are a woman and a man Rwandan respectively of 46 and 44 years old in Kigali.

Update COVID-19 24 September 2020

24 September 2020 — Ten (10) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 2158 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, seven hundred, and eighty-nine (4789). To date, three thousand, and fifty (3050) patients have recovered and been discharged, including fifty-five (55) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, seven hundred, and twelve (1712) and twenty-seven (27) deaths. 


The new cases are in Kigali (6), Nyamagabe (3) and Nyagatare (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere. 

Zanzibar launches its Digital Health Strategy

In a bid to increase access to quality healthcare services, Zanzibar’s Ministry of Health recently launched its digital health strategic plan. The five year (2021 - 2025) strategic plan was launched by the Minister for Health, Honourable Hamad Rashid in Unguja. The Plan aims at improving the provision of safer, equitable, accessible, efficient, and effective health services at all levels through proper use of affordable digital health technologies.

Kampala, 24 September 2020: - For many health workers of Arua Regional Referral Hospital (ARRH), 24th April 2020 is a day they will always remember with some trepidation. On that day, the hospital received its first COVID-19 patient and the health workers were understandably scared.

With the country under total lockdown and news channels beaming with constant pictures of death and sickness from all over the world, it was now the turn for ARRH health workers to play their part in the enduring COVID-19 tragedy.

The number of active cases is one thousand, seven hundred, and fifty-seven (1757) and twenty-seven (27) deaths.
