Testing at the core of Gabon’s COVID-19 battle

With over 60 sample collection sites, a network of laboratories, including a high-capacity one, Gabon has tested nearly a tenth of its 2 million people for COVID-19. Diagnosis has been expanded through mass testing and decentralization beyond the capital city.

WHO Regional Director for Africa Concludes Official Visit to Gabon

Libreville, 15 August 2012 --  The World Health Organization Regional Director for Africa, Dr Luis Gomes Sambo, has concluded a three-day official visit to the Republic of Gabon at the invitation of the Government. The visit took place from 13th – 15th August 2012.

The Regional Director met with the national authorities of the country, including Mr Dominique Guy Noël Nguieno, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Francophonie, NEPAD and Regional Integration and the Hon Minister of Health, Professor Leon Nzouba.

Libreville, 25 February 2014 – Ministers of Health of the  six-nation Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) met on 20 February in Libreville, Gabon, to launch the Common Pharmaceutical Policy of the regional economic grouping.

The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Health of Gabon, Prof.  Fidele MENGUE ME ENGOUANG, representing His Excellency Ali BONGO ONDIMBA, President of the Republic of Gabon.
