Update COVID-19 23 February 2021

23 February 2021 — One hundred and twenty-six (126) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 5960 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases eighteen thousand, three hundred and twenty-five (18325). To date, seventeen thousand, two hundred, and fifty-one (17251) patients have recovered, including two hundred, and fifty-nine (259) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is eight hundred, and twenty-one (821) and two hundred, and fifty-three (253) deaths. 


The new cases are in Kigali (36), Nyaruguru (15), Ngororero (12), Karongi (8), Rwamagana (6), Rubavu (5), Ngoma (5), Huye (5), Nyanza (4), Nyamagabe (4), Ruhango (4), Gisagara (4), Kamonyi (3), Muhanga (3), Kayonza (2), Rulindo (2), Musanze (2), Gicumbi (2), Rusizi (1), Nyamasheke (1), Nyabihu (1), and Nyagatare (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere.

The COVID-19 prevention measures announced by the Government of Rwanda must continue to be rigorously observed, especially frequent hand-washing and physical distancing. In addition, face masks must be worn in public and multi-family compounds.
Withholding information related to contact tracing or COVID-19 symptoms, jeopardises public safety and will be punished in accordance with applicable laws.
