Update COVID-19 19 March 2021

19 March 2021 — One hundred and thirty (130) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 3581 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases twenty thousand, six hundred, and eighty-one (20681). To date, nineteen thousand, one hundred, and forty-three (19143) patients have recovered, including one hundred and thirty-six (136) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, two hundred, and fifty-one (1251) and two hundred, and eighty-seven (287) deaths. 


The new cases are in Nyanza (38), Nyamagabe (15), Bugesera (13), Muhanga (12), Kigali City (9), Gicumbi (8), Ruhango (7), Gisagara (7), Rubavu (6), Rulindo (4), Nyaruguru (4), Gatsibo (3), Gakenke (2), Rwamagana (1), and Rutsiro (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere.

The COVID-19 prevention measures announced by the Government of Rwanda must continue to be rigorously observed, especially frequent hand-washing and physical distancing. In addition, face masks must be worn in public and multi-family compounds.
Withholding information related to contact tracing or COVID-19 symptoms, jeopardises public safety and will be punished in accordance with applicable laws.
