Update COVID-19 02 February 2021

02 February 2021 — Two hundred, and twenty-nine (229) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4257 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases fifteen thousand, six hundred, and eighty-eight (15688). To date, ten thousand, seven hundred, and forty-five (10745) patients have recovered, including four hundred, and seventy-three (473) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is four thousand, seven hundred, and thirty-eight (4738) and two hundred, and five (205) deaths. The 7 new deaths are four female, among them three of 75, 50, and 37 years in Kigali, and one of 64 years in Rulindo District, and 3 male, among them two of 80, and 60 years in Kigali, and one of 66 years old in Nyaruguru District.


The new cases are in Kigali (57), Nyamagabe (32), Gisagara (21), Kamonyi (18), Nyagatare (14), Ruhango (14),  Ngoma (11),  Kayonza (9), Rusizi (7), Gatsibo (7), Gakenke (6), Muhanga (4), Gicumbi (4), Karongi (4), Ngororero (4), Rulindo (3), Musanze (3), Rwamagana (3), Rubavu (2), Nyaruguru (2), Huye (1), Burera (1), Nyamasheke (1), and Bugesera (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere.

The COVID-19 prevention measures announced by the Government of Rwanda must continue to be rigorously observed, especially frequent hand-washing and physical distancing. In addition, face masks must be worn in public and multi-family compounds.
Withholding information related to contact tracing or COVID-19 symptoms, jeopardises public safety and will be punished in accordance with applicable laws.
