WHO Regional Office for Africa trains countries on KPI integration

Gaborone, Botswana - 31 August 2017: As part of the on-going implementation of the Regional Transformation Agenda, AFRO has trained designated staff from three country offices, namely Botswana, Namibia and Malawi, on integrating the AFRO Results Framework into their plans to enable better performance management and reporting . The Results Framework comprises Key Performance Indicators that will link individual staff performance to the country office, regional office and country national performance and thus highlight areas for improvement and support.

African Health Ministers commit to attain universal health coverage

African health ministers meeting in Zimbabwe for the 67th Session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Committee have adopted a range of actions intended to strengthen health systems in countries and eventually lead to Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Juba, 28 August 2017 – The Ministry of Health with support from the Government of Japan and the World Health Organization has expanded safe blood transfusion services to Wau, former Western Bahr el Ghazal State. The rollout of the Blood Transfusion services to regional level is a fundamental contribution towards building the capacity of the region to provide and increase access to safe blood supply.

The significant progress in improving people’s health in Africa has been commended by delegates attending the 67th session WHO Regional Committee for Africa, which began today in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. This follows the presentation of the 2016-2017 Biennial Report on the Work of WHO in the African Region by Dr Matshidiso Moeti, the WHO Regional Director for Africa. The report highlights progress achieved during the past biennuim in the Region in emergency preparedness and response, elimination of priority diseases including HIV, TB, malaria; tackling non-communicable diseases, progress in protecting children from illness and deaths, among others.

Les acteurs des urgences bénéficiaires de la formation en communication sur les risques

Le Bureau de l’OMS au Burundi en collaboration avec le ministère de la santé publique et de la lutte contre le sida (MSPLS), a organisé du 29 aout  au 1er septembre 2017, un atelier dont la thématique était la communication sur les risques. Cette session de renforcement des capacités des acteurs de la communication avait pour objectif de les initier à la communication sur les risques et à la gestion des crises  lors des urgences sanitaires.
