The Gambia Joins Global Efforts on UHC Celebration Day

Banjul, The Gambia - In a joint venture between the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO), The Gambia marked its inaugural Universal Health Coverage Day on Monday, joining the global commemoration established by the United Nations on December 12, 2017. The occasion aims to raise awareness about the necessity for robust, resilient, and intelligent health systems, promoting access to Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Launch of 2022 Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets Campaign in The Gambia & Senegal

Malaria continues to pose a significant public health and development challenge. The most recent World Malaria Report revealed an estimated 241 million malaria cases and 627,000 deaths in 2020. The WHO African Region carries a disproportionately high share of the global malaria burden being home to 95% and 96% of malaria cases and deaths respectively.

WHO and Ministry of Health Discuss Programme Budget 2022-23

Following internal discussions and preparations, the WHO Country Office and the Ministry of Health held a fruitful meeting this morning to discuss and plan for the Pogramme Budget 2022-23.  The meeting was held at Ocean Bay Hotel and was attended by senior management and programme officers from both institutions.
