WHO Representative Hands Over Medicines - Kenya

Nairobi, 6 November 2007 -- The WHO Representative to Kenya, Dr. David Okello handed over to the new Minister for Health, Hon. Paul Sang medicines for Mass Drug Administration (MDA) for Lymphatic Filariasis. The Permanent Secretary of Health, Dr. Hezron Nyangito and the Director of Medical Services, Dr. James Nyikal accompanied the Minister for Health at the ceremony which took place in the compound of the Ministry of Health Headquarters, Afya House. The drugs aimed at treating 1.9 million people in Coast Province are valued at Kenya shillings 1.5 million. Dr.

Kenya commemorates World AIDS Day 2010

Nairobi 1st December 2010 -- Kenya joined the World in commemorating the 22nd World AIDS Day (WAD) under the theme “Universal Access and Human Rights”.

34 African Universities, Medical, Nursing Schools to Teach CDI Strategy

Nairobi, Kenya 16 November 2010 -- Sixteen universities, medical and nursing schools from nine East and Southern African countries have agreed to introduce the Community-Directed Intervention (CDI) strategy in their curricula, as a way of expanding the use of the innovative and cost-effective strategy which encourages community ownership of health care delivery.

Intercountry Workshop on ?New Ways of Working in WHO?, Opens in Nairobi, Kenya

Charity Ngilu. WHO donates vehicles and equipments to boost health in Kenya

Nairobi Kenya, 16 March 2012 -- The WHO Country Representative, Dr Abdoulie Jack handed over vehicles, a range of equipment and medicines to the Minister of Public Health and Sanitation, Hon Beth Mugo at an official handing over ceremony held at the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation Headquarters in Nairobi.

In attendance were the Permanent Secretary Mr Mark Bor, the Director of Public Health and Sanitation Dr S.K Sharif, Senior officials of the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation and members of the media.

WHO Regional Tobacco Taxes training Workshop Nairobi, Kenya 5-8 April 2011.

Organized by the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 40 experts from 15 countries in the WHO African Region gathered today to train on tobacco taxes in Nairobi, Kenya as part of efforts of Member States in the WHO African Region to address the growing prevalence of tobacco use. The experts were drawn mainly from the ministries of finance in their respective countries. The countries involved include Angola, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
