Ghanaians have been called to develop the culture of voluntary blood donation to guarantee timely access to safe blood and blood products and help save lives. The Minister for Health, Mr Kwaku Agyeman-Manu made this call at an event to mark World Blood Donor Day in Accra under the theme: ‘Give blood and keep the world beating’.

On 7 June 2021, Ghana joined the rest of the world in commemorating 2021 World Food Safety Day which aims to draw attention to food borne risks and encourage the practice of food safety standards to help prevent, detect and manage food borne diseases. The day was celebrated in Accra under the theme: ‘Safe Food Now for a Healthy Tomorrow’.

Auntie Adwoa’s face beams with smiles and optimism as she sits for a few minutes under observation after taking her jab.

In 2019, out of the 229 million cases and 409 000 malaria deaths globally, 11 countries contributed to these statistics with 10 of these countries being in Africa including Ghana. 

Ghana has launched a vaccination campaign against the novel corona virus disease days after taking delivery of the historic first shipment of the COVAX vaccines.

The Country Representative for WHO Ghana, Dr. Francis Chisaka Kasolo has promised to deepen existing collaboration between Ghana and the WHO. He gave this assurance when he presented his letter of credence to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey in Accra.
