eSURV Annual Report - The use of innovative solutions to enhance active case search

The 2024 eSURV Annual Report outlines progress in digital disease surveillance across the WHO African Region. Adopted by 46 countries, the eSURV platform has logged over 550,000 active case search visits, supporting key public health milestones, including polio eradication efforts. In 2024, WHO expanded the rollout of the enhanced eSURV Companion App to 14 priority countries, with trained superusers leading national deployments. Despite some operational challenges, countries are advancing toward full integration. Continued support will ensure the tool helps close surveillance gaps and detect on a timely manner any circulation of the poliovirus in the community or health facility.
