Effectiveness of use of chloroquine/ hydroxychloroquine in COVID-19 case management
The pandemic coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) has pushed the global healthcare system to a crisis with socioeconomic consequences negatively affecting all areas of activities around the world. While researches are underway to confirm an approved treatment, several treatment protocols are in use and are diversely appreciated. Among these drugs, antimalarial drug chloroquine (CQ) and its derivative hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) have been suggested as a treatment [3]. This policy brief aims to summarize views from the scientific community regarding the use of CQ/HCQ for COVID-19 treatment.
