COVID-19 Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan for the WHO African Region, 1 February 2022 – 31 March 2023 (Updated on 31 July 2022)

SPRP 2022 for the WHO African Region covers the COVID-19 pandemic response, preparedness and resilience planning from 31 January 2022 to 31 March 2023. This version offers an opportunity for a mid-year reflection on the pandemic, and revisits the crisis in a context of evolving epidemiological and consequent social and political landscapes. It indicates lessons learned over the past two and a half years and provides the state of play of WHO AFRO’s COVID-19 incident management structure operational plan. Accordingly, it adjusts and contextualizes the strategy and operations. Like its predecessors, SPRP 2022 assumes whole-of-organization and whole-of-society approaches, and is aligned with IHR 2005, the WHO Emergency Response Framework and the New Way of Working. It is designed against a human rights and human security backdrop. It proposes a sustainable, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely response that takes into account evidence-based project management and enhanced national capacities.
