The UN Human Security Unit Visits Lesotho to Assess Project Implementation Progress Funded by UNTFHS

The Human Security Unit (HSU) of the United Nations Trust Fund for Human Security (UNTFHS) visited Lesotho from 3-9 March 2013. The purpose of the mission was to provide an opportunity for the HSU to assess the progress of the project implementation and the application of the human security, appreciate the challenges and added value of implementing the human security approach as well as providing guidance where necessary.

During the mission, Mrs Mehnaz Mostafavi, Officer-in-Charge of HSU, met the UN Agencies and their government counterparts involved in the implementation of the project on “Strengthening Rural Livelihoods Severely Affected by Climate Change-Induced Drought in Lesotho”. She also visited project sites implemented by the FAO, UNICEF, UNDP, UNFPA, WFP and WHO. The WHO site visited was Ha Khoro located in Mafeteng district within Metsi-Maholo Community Council, which is focusing on strengthening anthrax surveillance.
