Uganda to chair 125th and 126th executive board of the World Health Organization

Dr. Sam Zaramba the Director General of Health Services represents Uganda on the Executive Board of World Health Organisation in Geneva Switzerland

Dr. Sam Zaramba has been appointed as Chairperson of the Executive Board of the World Health Organisation for the years 2009 and 2010.

Avril 2008. The Executive Board is composed of 34 countries represented by persons who are technically qualified in the field designated by the Member States that have been elected to serve the World Health Assembly States.

In a letter by the World Health Organization Regional Director Africa Region, Dr. Louis G. Sambo requesting the government to confirm the selection of Dr. Sam Zaramba for the position of Chairperson states, “I am pleased to inform you that Dr. Sam Zaramba the representative of Uganda serving on the Executive Board has been proposed as Chairperson for its 125th and 126th Sessions. I would appreciate if you kindly confirm the acceptance and availability of the Executive Board Member for this position”.

On behalf of the Government of Uganda, the Minister of Health Honorable Stephen Mallinga thanked the Regional Director for Dr. Zaramba’s selection. “I am very glad to confirm to you that Uganda accepts whole heartedly the proposal to have Dr. Sam Zaramba as the chairperson of the Executive Board Sessions for the 125th and 126th of the WHO and let you know that Dr. Sam Zaramba will be available to serve in this capacity ”

Dr. Sam Zaramba has been a member of the Executive Board since 2008; his enormous technical contribution has propelled him to the appointment of chair person.

Dr. Zaramba’s assignment will start with the 125th Session of Executive Board scheduled from 28-29 May 2009 in Geneva Switzerland.

The Government congratulates Dr. Sam Zaramba upon this appointment.
