Lusaka, Luanda and Windhoek on track towards Malaria Control and Elimination in Africa

On the World Malaria Day 2011, the 25th April, Angola and Namibia have shown their great determination to join efforts to control malaria and other current diseases along their common border, with the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) supported by WHO.

The MoU formalizes the development of joint operations between the two countries, like the launching of the Trans-Kunene Malaria Cross Border Initiative (TKMI), and was signed by the Minister of Health and Social Services of Namibia, Dr. Richard Nchabi Kamwendo, and the Minister of Health of Angola, Dr. José Van-Dúnem. The cooperation between the two countries will be extended in particular to the provinces of Cunene and Namibe in southern Angola and to the bordering areas in Namibia, such as Kunene, Ohangwena and Omusati.
