Health partners meet to agree on indicators to assess performance

WHO Representation visits the USAID mission in Uganda

The WHO Country Representative Dr Wondimagegnehu Alemu on Monday made a courtesy visit to the US Agency for International Development (USAID) at the US Embassy in Kampala.

Dr Alemu was received by Ms Leslie Reed the Director of the USAID Mission in Uganda. In her welcome remarks, Ms Reed thanked WHO for the excellent work done in the health sector and also briefed him on the various health programmes supported by USAID in Uganda.

United Nations Family in Sierra Leone Holds Joint Health Fair Day

The United Nations Joint Medical Services (UNJMS) hosted a one day Health Fair on 7 June 2013 with the theme “Spring to Health with UNJMS”. The objective of the fair was to promote good health by increasing health awareness among UN staff and their dependants as planned after debriefing of RPM 47 recommendations to involve the UN Country Team (UNCT).

This award, according to information issued on AfDB website, recognizes the current work being done in e-health and m-health in Africa and aims at encouraging the production and sharing of knowledge on eHealth solutions.

Gambia successfully concludes synchronized polio NIDs

Banjul, Thursday, 6 June 2013 -- The Gambia has successfully participated in the 2013 synchronized, sub-regional National Immunization Days (NIDs) against polio in which 13 countries in West and Central African countries took part. The four-day exercise began on Friday 24 and ended on Monday 27 May 2013.

Banjul, Wednesday 05 June, 2013 -- The Gambia joined the international community in commemorating World No Tobacco Day on 31 May 2013. The event was launched in the village of Sibanor in the West Coast Region, about 70 km from the capital, Banjul.

On the 4th of June, 2013 the WHO Country Office handed over to the Prime Minister’s Office Regional Administration and Local Government (PMORALG) three vehicles to strengthen health service delivery in the three districts of Singida, Iramba and Meru.

The occasion was presided by the Minister for Regional Administration and Local Government (PMORALG), Hon. Hawa Ghasia (MP), Directors from PMORALG, District Executive Directors (DEDs) and District Medical Officers (DMOs)from the three districts of Iramba, Singida Rural and Meru, WHO staff and members of the media.
