It is with deep sorrow that we pay tribute to the memory of a renowned global Statesman – President Nelson Mandela. The whole world was enriched by his profound courage and determination.  
 

Policy makers and key academics from multiple sectors including media, marketing and advertising, nongovernmental organizations and consumer organizations met at a two day dialogue to develop a research agenda that would support South Africa’s Strategic Plan for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases 2013-2017.  The plan flows directly from targets set at the South African Summit on the Prevention and Control of Non-communicable diseases and on the WHO global NCD monitoring framework.

Happy End...On day 6, the estimates is 101% coverage at countrywide. The post camapign evaluation will give us a real picture of what happens in the field. The population have responded positively to the social mobilization appeal. On Day 7 (last Wednesday) the population was still crowded and as we heard from differents parts of the Country, the teams was under pressure cause of the important demand.

Addis Ababa, 4 December -- State Minister Dr Kebede Worku, Federal Ministry of Health, announced yesterday at the “Get Involved in Tobacco Control” high level advocacy workshop in Addis Ababa that Ethiopia will soon ratify the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC). WHO FCTC is the first international treaty negotiated in response to the globalization of the tobacco epidemic. The Convention represents a milestone for the promotion of public health and provides new legal dimensions for international health cooperation.

On day 5 of the MenA campaign in the Gambia, the estimates coverge at coutrywide is 95%. In some Regions like North Bank East (NBE) the coverage is more than 100%. The question is WHY? In reference to the reality in the ground (photos), this Region is a place where people are crossing from the neighbouring country (Senegal).

FOURTH REGIONAL CONSULTATION ON HEALTH WORKFORCE

Bansang, in the Central River Region (CRR). During the vaccination days people were crowded waiting to get vaccinated. The total target population is 147.842 people from 1-29 years old.

On the 3rd December 2013, the WHO Country Office handed over to the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare vehicles to strengthen District Health Services and improve referral systems initially focusing on the peer learning districts. The 21 vehicles handed over are worth a total of USD 846,385.45 equivalent to Tanzanian Shillings 1,359,295,033.

Harare, 3 Dec. 2013 -- On 1st December Zimbabwe joined the rest of the world in commemorating World AIDS Day at a grand event held at Garwe Stadium in Chivhu. The event, which was held under the theme: Getting to zero new infections; zero discrimination, and zero AIDS related deaths, and the slogan My responsibility, your responsibility; brought together people living with HIV, AIDS activ-ists, partners, donors and members of the Chivhu community among others.
