Minister of Health of Rwanda reminds to strengthen measures to prevent the spread of Ebola to Rwanda

Kigali, 11 June 2019: A confirmed case of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) was confirmed in Kasese, Uganda. This follows an ongoing 10 months similar Ebola Virus Disease outbreak in North Kivu and Ituri Provinces in DRC.

Despite the fact that we are surrounded by this public health threat, no Ebola case has been reported in Rwanda. 

In order to protect yourself and prevent the spread of Ebola, it is important to ensure the followings:

Kigali, June 12 2019--- Rwanda becomes the second African Country to host World Blood Donor Day (WBDD), following South Africa 15 years ago. World Health Organisation chose Rwanda to host the 2019 WBDD in order to raise awareness that safe and sufficient blood supply is important in many key public health programs in Africa. WBDD is celebrated annually on June 14, this year’s global theme is “Safe Blood for All” and will see over 350 participants attend from all over the world.

Kampala, 11 June 2019 - The Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO) have confirmed a case of Ebola virus disease in Uganda. Although there have been numerous previous alerts, this is the first confirmed case in Uganda during the Ebola outbreak ongoing in the neighbouring Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
