Eswatini’s nationwide measles-rubella vaccination campaign reaches 87% coverage
Mbabane—Eswatini’s nationwide Measles Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign reached 87% coverage, marking a milestone in the kingdom’s ongoing efforts to eliminate vaccine-preventable diseases and strengthen child health. The two-week campaign, conducted in August 2025, was rolled out across all four regions, extending from urban centers to peri-urban neighborhoods and hard-to-reach rural areas. Children aged 9 months to 5 years received the MR vaccine, while those aged 0 to 5 years were offered the Polio vaccine.

WHO Supports Sierra Leone’s End-Term Review of the National TB Strategic Plan
Sierra Leone has successfully completed the End-Term Review (ETR) of its National Tuberculosis (TB) Strategic Plan (2021–2025), a pivotal exercise aimed at evaluating the country’s progress in the fight against TB, identifying ongoing challenges, and setting priorities for the next strategic phase. The review process, which began in March 2025, included comprehensive epidemiological and programmatic assessments conducted from 1 to 12 September 2025.

In late August, Lusaka, Zambia’s capital city became the heartbeat of African public health as it hosted the seventy-fifth session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa, the highest decision-making body on health on the continent.
From 25–27 August 2025, the Mulungushi International Conference Centre welcomed over 700 delegates, including ministers of health from 47 countries of the African Region, WHO leadership, civil society, and development partners to address challenges and endorse key health resolutions to improve and shape the future of health in the region.
Namibia Enhances capacity building on detection and reporting Through Review of IDSR Training Materials
