Global health leaders in Africa to focus on progress against malaria

Leaders from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, United Nations Special Envoy on Malaria, and World Health Organization, Travel to Tanzania and Uganda.

17 August 2009 -- Dr. Margaret Chan, Director-General of the World Health Organization, Mr. Ray Chambers, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Malaria, and Dr. Tachi Yamada, President of the Global Health Program at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, have begun a visit to Tanzania and Uganda to review the progress that has been made in malaria control and to better understand the remaining challenges in areas with high levels of malaria.
