Six STOP mission consultants who have been working in Ethiopia since February 2015 finalized their field work in June 2015. The 45th STOP team presented their final review of achievements and recommendation to FMoH on 27 June 2015.

Major recommendations were given for surveillance, routine immunization and supplementary immunization activities. The team found that there is a need for significant improvement in supportive supervision from woreda/zonal levels and regular hands on training during supervisory visits should be given to the concerned focal person. Moreover, community volunteers and clan leaders should be better involved in defaulter tracing, and social mobilization activities should be strengthened at the community level.

The six STOP team members from WHO and UNICEF had been deployed to Somali, Gambella and Oromia regions. Four were assigned as field epidemiologists and the other two worked on the communications strategy for Somali and Gambella regions.
