Poster for raising awareness and promoting early detection of noma
Noma is a severe gangrenous disease that affects the mouth and face, most commonly seen in malnourished children aged 2 to 6 years living in conditions of extreme poverty.
Accurately estimating the burden of noma is challenging, as many cases go undiagnosed, untreated, and unreported. This is due to the rapid progression of the disease, its high case-fatality rate, weak health systems, associated stigma, and a general lack of awareness among healthcare workers and caregivers.
This poster is intended for use in community and primary care settings to raise awareness about noma, promote early detection, and facilitate timely treatment and appropriate referral of affected individuals.
