Entebbe, 27th February 2019: - Data quality, analysis and use are instrumental in the delivery of quality and equitable health services in Uganda. Consequently, the Ministry of Health (MoH), with support from the World Health Organization (WHO), is conducting a three-day workshop aimed at strengthening health facility data quality, analysis and use.

Kampala, 20 February 2019:- The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) have today signed a partnership agreement to strengthen Ebola screening for travelers crossing boarders across Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) with an aim of saving lives.

Under the agreement, WHO with funding from DFID Uganda, will provide USD 161,662 to complement the Uganda Red Cross Society efforts to deploy man power to manage all the 25  mapped entry points at high risk.

Kampala, 12th February 2019: - Ugandan health workers have yet again acted with swiftness to respond to a suspected Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) case that occurred in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the body repatriated to Uganda by relatives for burial. 

Kampala, 7th February 2019: - The World Health Organization (WHO) in collaboration with the Center for Tobacco Control in Africa (CTCA) and the Ministry of Health (MoH) has launched a study to monitor compliance with the tobacco law in Uganda. This study will strengthen WHO’s and the government's ability to report accurate and comparable data on compliance with adopted tobacco control legislation.

Kampala, 31st January 2019: - Uganda’s disease surveillance system was recently put to a rigorous test when two people, contacts of confirmed Ebola Virus Disease cases in DRC crossed into the country through Kasindi Point of Entry (PoE) on 20th January 2019.

Kampala, 26th January 2019: - The Government of Uganda launched the Health Sector Refugee Response Plan 2019-2024, (HSIRRP 2019-2024). This is a five-year plan that advocates for the provision of integrated services for both refugees and refugee-host communities in all the refugee-hosting districts.

The HSRIIP is intended to address the needs of refugees and the host communities and ensure access to quality health services for both through improvement of staffing of refugee-hosting districts to 95% of the public staffing norms.

Kampala 24th December 2018: - The Minister of Health, Dr Jane Ruth Aceng has lauded government partners for their support in the current Ebola preparedness response in Uganda and urged them to support the government to build systems for future disease outbreak responses.

This was at a meeting held at the Serena Hotel in Kampala, where partners in the Ebola preparedness response briefed Ministry of Health (MoH) leadership and donors about their work to ensure that Uganda is prepared to manage an EVD outbreak, should there be one.
