WHO enhances Ebola Rapid Response Readiness Capacities in South Sudan
Nigeria will soon be on the path to eliminating AIDS.
Abuja, 1 November, 2018 - Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole indicated on 30 October 2018 that the country will soon be on track to eliminating the dreaded Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDs).
“I must inform you that since the beginning of the National HIV response about 1,066,223 people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIVs) including 54,167 children have been placed on treatment with support from donors, development partners and the Government of Nigeria”, Professor Adewole said.

WHO supports Botswana to respond to an outbreak of diarrhoea in children below five years of age
Gaborone, Botswana - 29 October 2018: Botswana has been experiencing an outbreak of diarrhoea mainly affecting children below five years of age since the beginning of September 2018. The diarrhoea outbreak started in the central part of the country and then spread to other districts. At the peak of the outbreak, 18 of the 27 districts in Botswana reached epidemic level. The outbreak was detected through analysis of routine surveillance data. Laboratory investigations attributed the cause of the outbreak to rotavirus.
