Publications

This bulletin highlights key developments in environmental surveillance for polio and other pathogens across the African Region. As countries work to strengthen outbreak detection and response, WHO and partners are optimizing surveillance networks, expanding multi-pathogen detection efforts, and piloting innovative tools like autosamplers. The bulletin includes updates from field missions in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Mozambique, collaborative initiatives under the One Health approach, and progress toward more sensitive, timely, and integrated surveillance systems aligned with the Global Polio Surveillance Action Plan 2025–2026.
