2025 WHO Zambia Annual Report
In 2025, WHO Zambia delivered significant system-wide results, strengthening leadership, health systems, disease control, emergency preparedness, and responses to noncommunicable diseases, advancing progress toward universal health coverage, health security, and healthier populations. Notably, Zambia successfully hosted the 75th Session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa (RC75), reinforcing its leadership role, regional visibility, and partnerships across the continent.
To further accelerate progress toward universal health coverage, and in response to a request by the Republican President to the WHO Director-General and Regional Director, WHO facilitated a high-level peer-learning and knowledge exchange visit to Rwanda. This initiative supported strengthening of the Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority toward WHO maturity level 3, scaling up health financing through the National Health Insurance Management Authority, and improving supply chain management through the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supply Agency, laying a strong foundation for resilient, efficient, and sustainable health systems.
