Tanzania Celebrates Health Milestones on World Health Day 2025
Dar es Salaam: Tanzania commemorated World Health Day 2025 with a vibrant national event themed “Let’s Talk Health”, spotlighting the country’s progress in public health and reaffirming commitments to inclusive, sustainable health for all.
Hosted by WHO Tanzania in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the event brought together over 100 stakeholders, including government officials, development partners, health professionals, and civil society representatives—at the WHO premises in Dar es Salaam. The celebration focused on achievements in disease prevention, vaccination, mental health, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and disability inclusion.
The Honourable Minister of Health and the Minister of Health for Zanzibar officiated the event, alongside the WHO Representative. More than 100 organizations were represented, reflecting the strength of multisectoral collaboration across the country’s health landscape.
Guests toured a series of exhibition booths, including a dedicated SEAH booth (Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment) that underscored efforts to prevent and respond to abuse under the PSEAH framework. A powerful photo wall featuring real stories of health intervention beneficiaries provided a human face to the data. Attendees also viewed multimedia presentations and video documentaries capturing community-level successes and the voices of frontline health workers.
The event created space not only to reflect on past achievements, but also to mobilize renewed commitment and resources to address remaining challenges. Participants emphasized the importance of sustained investment, inclusive strategies, and a people-centered approach as Tanzania works toward achieving Universal Health Coverage and SDG 3.
As the evening closed with networking and refreshments, the message was clear: health gains in Tanzania are the result of strong leadership, deep partnerships, and a collective drive to ensure health for all. WHO and its partners pledged continued support to help Tanzania strengthen its health systems and protect the well-being of every citizen.
