WHO Uganda Annual Report 2024

WHO Uganda Annual Report 2024

In 2024, WHO in Uganda intensified its efforts to safeguard the health of Ugandans amidst global challenges. Following recovery from the 2023 Sudan virus outbreak, the focus shifted to enhancing health system resilience and reintegrating survivors.

Throughout the year, Uganda faced multiple health crises, including cholera, measles, anthrax, mpox, and emergencies related to climate and refugee influxes. With WHO’s support, the country made significant strides in improving surveillance, laboratory testing, response teams, frontline worker training, case management, infection control, and continuity of essential health services.

Thanks to these efforts, 3.4 million children were protected from polio, over 22,000 frontline workers received Ebola vaccines, Uganda achieved a 90% treatment success rate for TB, and malaria deaths were reduced by 50%. These milestones underscore WHO’s commitment to Universal Health Coverage, emergency preparedness, and equitable healthcare in Uganda.

These achievements were made possible through collaboration with the Ministry of Health, development partners, civil society, and local communities. We appreciate your partnership and look forward to continued support for a healthier Uganda.
