WHO Liberia 2024 Annual Report

The 2024 WHO Liberia annual report highlights significant progress in the health sector following peaceful elections and a political transition, supported by the international community. Key achievements include protecting nearly one million children against measles and polio, reaching 2.4 million people with medicine for lymphatic filariasis and schistosomiasis, introducing the malaria vaccine for 45,000 children, improving access to safe blood, effectively controlling disease outbreaks, and enhancing diagnostic capacity.

These results were achieved through strong collaboration with the Government of Liberia and partners, aligning with national health priorities outlined in the ARREST Agenda. Notably, the reporting period marked the mid-way point of Liberia’s Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS 2022-2026) and the conclusion of the United Nations Cooperation Strategy (2020-2024), providing a strategic framework for the health gains observed.

WHO's extensive field presence and innovative operational approaches were crucial in implementing primary health care interventions, including immunization, maternal, newborn and child health, surveillance, and response to disease outbreaks. WHO Liberia remains committed to supporting the Ministry of Health in advancing the national health agenda and achieving health-related Sustainable Development Goals in 2025.
