Outbreaks and Emergencies Bulletin, Week 17: 22 - 28 April 2017

The African Region WHO Health Emergencies Programme is currently monitoring 44 events, 36 infectious diseases outbreaks and 8 humanitarian crises. This edition (week 17) covers: 

  • Cluster of acute illness and sudden deaths of an unknown aetiology in Liberia 
  • Anthrax in Zimbabwe, 
  • Humanitarian crises in Nigeria and South Sudan, 
  • Meningitis in Nigeria
  • Necrotising cellulitis/fasciitis in Sao Tome and Principe, 
  • Hepatitis E outbreak in Niger, 
  • Food insecurity crisis in the Horn of Africa.
