WHO São Tomé and Príncipe Newsletter for the 2nd Quarter - April to June 2025

The second edition of the WHO São Tomé and Príncipe Quarterly Newsletter, covering the period April to June 2025, highlights important progress achieved in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and national partners. Over this quarter, immunization coverage was expanded through African Vaccination Week, ensuring greater protection for children and adolescents, while the national commitment to malaria elimination was further reinforced through targeted campaigns and technical cooperation. Laboratory and epidemiological surveillance capacity was also strengthened with WHO’s donation of diagnostic and IT equipment, alongside enhanced public health emergency preparedness through training on risk communication and the integration of digital surveillance tools. In the field of community engagement, initiatives such as the #NOExcuse campaign against sexual exploitation and abuse, and the São Tomé Marathon promoting inclusion and equity, further demonstrated WHO’s leadership in fostering a safe and inclusive environment. These achievements illustrate the joint commitment of WHO, the Government, and partners to building a more resilient health system and ensuring equitable access to quality health services for all.
