Rukwa- More than 3 million children in six border regions are receiving vaccination in Tanzania against polio from 21st to 24th September 2023, following its recent resurgence after seven years of no recorded cases. The regions include Rukwa, Katavi, Mbeya, Kagera, Songwe and Kigoma.

Dar es salaam: Emergency responders in Tanzania conducted an After Action Review (AAR) following declaration of the end of Marburg Virus Disease (MVD) outbreak on 2nd June 2023 in the country. The response to MVD managed to control the outbreak within the communities it was initially reported and end it within 90 days.

The ending of the outbreak was achieved through the leadership of the Ministry of health and support from partners.

Zanzibar -The Country Representative of the World Health Organization in United Republic of Tanzania, Dr Charles Sagoe-Moses paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Heath in Zanzibar, Honorable Nassor Ahmed Mazrui.

Dr Sagoe-Moses acknowledged the close collaborations WHO has had with the Ministry and commended the great efforts in improving access to health services through strengthening of health systems in Zanzibar.

Dar es Salaam: Following World Health Organisation's (WHO) alert on a new and more potent malaria vector in Africa, Tanzania is taking measures to strengthen vector surveillances and monitoring updates.

Dodoma - In a bid to reach the vulnerable populations and underserved communities with healthcare services, WHO, with funding from the Canadian government, is supporting the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups to conduct a National NGO digital mapping. The first phase of the exercise entails the design, development and deployment of a web based digital platform to map all existing NGOs operating in Tanzania mainland.

Dar es Salaam - The newly designated Country Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Tanzania, Dr. Charles Sagoe-Moses, has presented his letter of credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax (Mb.), on the start of his duty tour in Tanzania. Dr Sagoe- Moses’ appointment took effect from 6th June 2023.

Arusha- The World Health Organization declared an end to COVID-19 pandemic as a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC) in May 2023 after the pandemic has been on a downward trend with increasing number of vaccinated populations in the world leading to fewer infections and deaths. But the need to reach everyone everywhere with COVID-19 vaccines persists.
