WHO Zambia 2023/2024 Annual Report

WHO Zambia 2023/2024 Annual Report

In 2023/2024, WHO in Zambia intensified its efforts to safeguard the health of Zambians. This report captures a period marked by resilience, innovation, and impactful partnerships. Despite facing one of the worst cholera outbreaks in two decades, and other public health emergencies, Zambia made significant strides in strengthening its health system and improving service delivery.

Thanks to these efforts, over 3 million children were vaccinated against polio, 95% of births were attended to by skilled health personnel, exclusive breastfeeding increased from 64% to 81% and over 800,000 girls aged 9-14 years were protected against human papillomavirus (HPV).

These achievements were made possible through collaboration with the Ministry of Health, development partners, health sector stakeholders, and local communities. We appreciate your partnership and look forward to continued support for a healthier Zambia.
