Update COVID-19 19 February 2021

19 February 2021 — Ninety-four (94) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4862 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases seventeen thousand, nine hundred, and twenty-nine (17929). To date, sixteen thousand, three hundred, and eighty-seven (16387) patients have recovered, including two hundred, and twenty-four (224) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, two hundred, and ninety-seven (1297) and two hundred, and forty-five (245) deaths. 


The new cases are in Kigali (23), Ruhango (12), Ngororero (8), Nyaruguru (8), Nyamagabe (6), Kayonza (4), Rubavu (4), Gisagara (3), Rulindo (3), Nyamasheke (3), Nyabihu (3), Gatsibo (2), Muhanga (2), Rusizi (2), KIrehe (2), Nyagatare (2), Ngoma (2), Musanze (2),  Karongi (1), Nyanza (1), and Rwamagana (1); and heightened vigilance is required everywhere.
 
The COVID-19 prevention measures announced by the Government of Rwanda must continue to be rigorously observed, especially frequent hand-washing and physical distancing. In addition, face masks must be worn in public and multi-family compounds.
Withholding information related to contact tracing or COVID-19 symptoms, jeopardises public safety and will be punished in accordance with applicable laws.
