Update COVID-19 26 January 2021

26 January 2021 — Five hundred, and seventy-four (574) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 10407 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases thirteen thousand, eight hundred, and eighty-five (13885). To date, eight thousand, eight hundred, and sixty-one (8861) patients have recovered, including one hundred, and eighty (180) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is four thousand, eight hundred, and forty-three (4843) and one hundred, and eighty-one (181) deaths. The 4 new deaths are one female of 54 years in Nyagatare District, and 3 male, among them two of 61 and 60 years in Kigali, and another of 51 years old in Muhanga District.


The new cases are in Kigali (440), Gicumbi (16), Gakenke (11), Ngoma (10), Kirehe (10), Gatsibo (10), Muhanga (9), Gisagara (8), Kamonyi (8), , Rwamagana (8), Kayonza (7), Karongi (6), Nyanza (5), Huye (5), Rusizi (5), Ruhango (4), Nyagatare (4), Musanze (3), Nyamagabe (2), Rubavu (2), and Rulindo (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere.

The COVID-19 prevention measures announced by the Government of Rwanda must continue to be rigorously observed, especially frequent hand-washing and physical distancing. In addition, face masks must be worn in public and multi-family compounds.
Withholding information related to contact tracing or COVID-19 symptoms, jeopardises public safety and will be punished in accordance with applicable laws.
