A third round of polio vaccination for all children under five is underway in Tanzania. In this campaign Tanzania targets to vaccinate 12,386,854 under fives from 1—4 September in all 31 regions and 195 districts of Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar.

WHO and Partners revamp war against cholera in Africa

Dar es Salaam: The World Health Organization in the African region is embarking on a continent-wide effort to eliminate Cholera in the Region. This commitment is in line with “the Ending cholera: A global roadmap to 2030” strategy, that seeks to reduce cholera deaths by 90% and eliminate the disease transmission in 20 countries.

Vaccine “Champions” deploy in Rukwa & Zanzibar

Sumbawanga and Zanzibar – The World Health Organization in Tanzania is working with the Ministries of Health in Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar, to implement a community mobilization campaign aimed at raising the coverage of COVID-19 vaccination in Districts with low coverage; using vaccine “champions”.

Tanzania welcomes Ted Chaiban

The Global Lead Coordinator for COVID19 Vaccine Delivery Partnership (CoVDP), UN Assistant Secretary-General Mr. Ted Chaiban, arrived in Tanzania on 4th July 2022 for a four-day official visit. Accompanied by the Acting WHO Country Representative, Dr. Zabulon Yoti and UNICEF Country Representative, Ms. Shalini Bahughuna; Mr. Chaiban participated in joint high-level advocacy meetings with key government officials including the Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Ambassador Liberata Mulamula; Heads of UN Agencies and Development Partners in Dar es Salaam.
