Awka, 10 November, 2022 - The World Health Organization (WHO) has donated emergency medical supplies to the government and people of Anambra State in response to the flood disaster that has severely affected over 600,000 persons in seven local government areas (LGAs).

In Nigeria, 35 states have been devastated by the flooding in 2022 and Anambra state, located in the Southeast region is one of the worse-hit areas. 

Owerri, 9 November, 2022 - Sitting on a row of wooden benches in front of a Primary Health Care (PHC) Ccntre, at Egbu village in Owerri North Local Government Area (LGA), of Imo State, Southeast Nigeria, was over  20 people waiting to receive doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. 
 
On the queue was Nwaneri Christiana, a 32-year-old student, who waited patiently for her turn to receive the first shot of COVID-19 vaccination. 
 

Lafia, 8 November, 2022 - The torrent of water swept through Angulu Village, in Doma Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, displacing thousands of people and inundating dozens of buildings, including the health facility serving the community. 

With a swollen belly and aching feet, eight months pregnant Abiye Bawa, and her family, fled her community on a boat in September 2022 to seek refuge in the highlands.  

The 25-year-old, who now calls the Internally Displaced Person camp at Rukubi, Nasarawa State home, recently gave birth at the health facility close to the camp.

Lokoja, 2 November, 2022 - Nigeria is suffering widespread destruction from the flooding, affecting millions of people across 35 states.

From hilly areas to plains, the flood has washed away houses, infrastructure, crops and livestock. 

When the floodwater levels started rising in his village, 48-year-old Mr Emos John and his wife were torn about what to do. 

Leaving their land in the village (Ejulejebe Community in Ibaji Local Government Area, Kogi State), which they relied on for food, was a tough decision. 

Akure, 28 October, 2022 - When Mrs Olawale Damilola, a 40 years old lecturer, heard that the health facility in her locality was offering screening to detect early signs of cervical cancer, her mind flashed to stories of women whom she had heard died of the disease. 

She immediately booked for  screening at the health facility, one of the ten Primary Health Care (PHC)  centres offering cervical cancer secondary prevention program services in Ondo State, South-west Nigeria. 

Abuja, 18 October, 2022 - Living at the Internally Displaced Persons’ (IDPs) camp in Damagaza in Abuja, 20- years old Anifa Tsani, a mother of one, is glad she can now make informed choices on her sexual and reproductive health.

She started living in the camp at a very young age and married into the same environment where she barely had enough food to eat. 

Abuja, 13 October, 2022 - As of November 2019, Chidinma Ebele, 22 years old (not his real name), was on top of his game, starting a new job as a research assistant at a non-governmental organization in Abuja. 
 
He had plans outlined for 2020 until the COVID-19 pandemic struck, and things went downhill for him.  At the beginning of the pandemic, he had no cause to be alarmed but as the pandemic dragged on coupled with the lockdowns, the situation became daunting. 

Osun, 11 October, 2022 - Given that genomic sequencing technology enhanced the fight against COVID-19 globally, Nigeria is working on a strategy to integrate other infectious diseases into the genomic surveillance in the country. 

Abuja, 11 October, 2022 - Dr Chieshi was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1990

Having been diagnosed with schizophrenia at the university in 1990, Dr Terver Simon Chieshi had to suspend school for a year to seek medical treatment. 

He recalled that being a final-year medical student coming to terms with the diagnosis was not easy.
