On behalf of the World Health Organization, I would like to acknowledge the very important work carried out by this home of The Little Sisters of The Poor.

There is need to recognize that elderly people need care, social order and medical attention. They suffer from chronic diseases and therefore need medication for their treatment. The treatment is very expensive.

Elderly people also need the services of qualified staff such as doctors and nurses. I would like to thank all these professionals, including doctors and nurses who come here regularly to provide benevolent service. I also thank the Sisters for their extraordinary work.

We immensely appreciate the work you do and would like to encourage you to continue your charitable work. May God bless you all.

I would like to remind you that we are celebrating the World Blood Donor Day. It should be noted that, in some circumstances, blood donation is the only means of saving lives. I am therefore inviting everyone to participate in blood donation campaigns.

Thank you.
