General Assembly

The General Assembly provides an opportunity for interactions between the Regional Director and all staff of the Regional Office. The General Assembly is convened once every year or more as deemed necessary by the Regional Director or WHO African Region Staff Association. The General Assembly is chaired by the Regional Director.

The terms of reference of the General Assembly are to:

  • Provide a forum for keeping staff informed on the development of the activities of the World Health Organization in the Region.
  • Discuss any specific matters of interest to general staff and the Organization.

The membership of the General Assembly is as follows:

  • Regional Director as Chairman
  • All staff, both professional and support
  • The Regional Personnel Officer serves as the Secretary for the General Assembly
