The Expert Group on Primary Health Care
The Expert Group on Primary Health Care was established in October 2007 to provide advice to the Regional Director on matters related to strengthening health systems using the Primary Health Care approach. Members are selected by the Regional Director based on personal capacities and experiences. The Group meets at least once a year or more often at the request of the Regional Director.
The Terms of Reference of the Group are to:
- To provide technical orientation on the best means and ways to speed the implementation of the orientations contained in various resolutions of WHO aimed at strengthening health systems focusing on community participation; improvement of availability of material and financial resources, strengthening managerial capacities for health services delivery, generation and use of evidence, improvement of quality and coverage of health priorities interventions, strengthening partnership and collaboration with stakeholders;
- To support monitoring progress and evaluation of implementation of those resolutions
- To regularly provide progress reports to the Regional Director
- To assist the Regional Director in the preparation of the Conferences on Primary Health Care and Health Systems
