The World Blood Donor Day was observed with great zeal and enthusiasm in Windhoek on Monday, 14 June 2010 and in Swakopmund on Wednesday, 16 June 2010. The 2010 global campaign focused on young donors, with the slogan, “New blood for the world.” Blood donors were motivated to donate blood voluntary.

World No Tobacco Day, was commemorated on 31 May 2010, by the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS), with support from WHO and its partners, under the theme "Gender and Tobacco with an emphasis on Marketing to Women,” in Gobabis in the Omaheke Region. The event was used to draw attention to the gender dimension of tobacco advertising, and to reiterate efforts to ban all forms of tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship.
