Patient safety

This component provides guidance to countries on the concepts and safe practices and procedures for patient safety; it supports countries in their efforts to minimize health-care associated infections and improve knowledge and learning in patient safety.

The main achievements include: contribution to the development and dissemination of WHO Guidelines on Hand Hygiene in Health Care settings; getting political commitments by 41 Ministries of Health that pledged by signing a statement of engagement to take action to address health-care associated infections.
