Regional targets

The African Heads of State in 2001 set themselves a target to allocate 15% of the national budget to the health sector.

The WHO Commission for Macroeconomics and Health (CMH) recommended that at least US$ 34 per capita expenditure for health would be needed to buy an essential package of health services. This does not include the cost of strengthening health systems.
