Dr Matshidiso Moeti has been the Assistant Regional Director at the WHO Regional Office for Africa since October 2008. She joined the Regional Office in 1999 as the Regional Advisor for Women's and Adolescent Health. She subsequently occupied the positions of Regional Advisor for HIV/AIDS, WHO Representative to Malawi and Director of the Division of Non-Communicable Diseases.

Prior to joining WHO, Dr Moeti had worked for UNAIDS as Team Leader for the Africa Desk and for UNICEF as a Programme Officer for Health and Nutrition in Zambia. Before entering into international service, Dr. Moeti had occupied the position of Head of the Epidemiology and Unit of the Ministry of Health in Botswana.

Dr Moeti holds the degrees of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and Master of Science in Community Health in Developing Countries.
