Programme Objectives

The objectives of the Health Technologies and Laboratories Programme are as follows:

  • Development and monitoring of comprehensive national policies on access, quality and use of essential health technologies.
  • Adaptation and implementation of regional, national and international norms, standards and guidelines for the quality, safety, efficacy and cost-effectiveness of health technologies.
  • Adapting evidence-based policy guidance on promoting scientifically sound and cost-effective use of health technologies by health workers and consumers to regional and national needs and supported within regional and national programmes.
